Mango Pineapple Ginger Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Words that come to mind when I think of this mango pineapple smoothie bowl recipe:

  • Tropical vibes
  • Energy boost
  • Digestive support

Mango Pineapple Ginger Smoothie Bowl Recipe Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 inch piece of ginger (peel or not, doesn’t matter)
  • 1/8 cup orange juice
  • 1/8 cup water (you might opt to SLOWLY add more to reach the texture you want if your blender is having a hard time)
  • 1 small apple banana, sliced (or whatever fruits you want)
  • 1/3 cup granola
  • coconut flakes to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put your fruit into the blender, then add your liquids. This will be your smoothie base. Blend well, adding more water to loosen the mixture if needed. I personally think it’s better to add any extra liquid you might want to use, very slowly (and mix around the frozen fruit to assist your blender), rather than to try to thicken the smoothie later.
  2. Place smoothie base into a bowl.
  3. Top with apple banana or fruits of your choice, and granola
  4. Serve cold

Mango Pineapple Ginger Smoothie Bowl Recipe Notes & Random Research

Living in Hawai’i, I’m able to buy the locally grown version of many of these ingredients (depending on the season). If you wish to do the same but don’t have the same local produce available, just sub out the fruits and I bet you it’ll taste just as good.

If you can find the fresh mango and pineapple in the grocery store, and if you want to spare the time and effort, you can chop them up at home and freeze them in reusable containers to reduce plastic packaging.

The mango & pineapple will give you a big fat dose of vitamin C alongside a good amount of vitamin A, fiber and potassium.

Both fruits and the ginger support your digestion since they contain fiber. In addition, ginger is said to stimulate digestive acids, soothe the intestinal tract, and help food digest better/quicker. Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that breaks down protein and thus makes it easier for your body to assimilate nutrients from food.

The fruit sugars give you an energy boost, and maybe even a mood boost. Mango and pineapple both contain tryptophan, which your body converts to serotonin. Serotonin has been dubbed “the happiness hormone” for it’s effects on the brain, and thus your mood.
